Disabled, homeless older lady in need of help

This is an attempt to help a lady we will call Barbara. Barbara is 60 years old and has been living out of her car for some time now. Barbara is disabled and was driven homeless due to the rise in rent and inflation. Barbara has two small dog with whom she’s very attached to and loves very much. She spends her time in parking lots throughout our community. (Monroe, NC) Some parking lots longer than others, but most of the time after a short time being asked to leave. 

I created this page in hopes to reach out to the community. I along with another person in the community am teaming up to help Ms. Barbara. We would like to raise enough money to help her get into affordable housing somewhere nearby, and address some immediate needs she has. 

This is only a start, I know the issue of homelessness is immense and from the information that has been gathered there’s very little resources available to help. 

Libby Helms Patterson has taken Ms. Barbara to DSS, to the homeless shelter and many other locations to seek assistance. Little to none have produced assistance. Referral to another place is all that happens. 

Please consider donating to help Ms Barbara stay in temporary hotel for $71.50/night till it starts to cool off some. The books of these transactions will be open for anyone to look at. This is not a scam and you are welcome to review any purchases and the money we raise will go to help Ms. Barbara. I will be creating an excel document that will list how much money has been raised and what it’s spent on with receipts. I’ll add the link here very soon.

She is a sweet sweet lady that has been through an immense struggle lately. She has also been experiencing some medical issues that have made her legs swell due to being in her car so much.

Praying that whoever can help her, will give, even a small amount will add up. Those who know me, I ask that you comment that this need is real and this is a legitimate post. Operation Reach Out, DSS, Council on Aging has no help, Section 8 has a 2 yr wait. So I ask for any who have been down & out to give any amount. I'm sure everyone has seen the post of the lady we're helping. She's found herself living out of her car with her 2 dogs @ 60 yrs old. Some of you have been sad that you're not able to give money towards her room at the motel. I do know many are also having money difficulties. I know she'd appreciate a home cooked meal. A jar of soup. Or hand made bread, biscuits or muffins. ..or a gallon of tea. Maybe a desert, or a small little gift bag with soaps, shampoo, hair clips, etc. She really needs a pair of shoes, size 8. Tennis shoes that are soft and comfy. A small gift card from Walmart or grocery store. She really appreciates going out to eat. She washes her clothes in the sink. I'm going to take her to the laundromat. Anyone want to donate Tide or bleach. It's amazing how much I take for granted & how rich we all are. If you just want to send her a card of encouragement. If you know of people who are especially blessed, please mention her plight to them. They may be the person who provides her way out. I dont even know what that will look like. I'm putting this out by faith. And asking God to help her. More than anything, I thank everyone who HAS helped her. And prayed for her. Parking lots only tolerate her for a short amount of time, then she's told to leave. She is here in this county because a few people have been kind to her. She says some ride by and howl and bark at her, some laugh. How she wound up here I'm not sure. But I do feel I need to help her. I'd hope anyone would help me if me and my dogs somehow were in a car in 90° weather with no home to go to. It's so different to hear about her, but then you meet her, you see the swelling in her legs, take her to eat and see how happy she is to be in air conditioning and have a person talk to her. She's alone, lonely, hungry, homeless, disabled."For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me". She has really made me see how much I take for granted. I really appreciate anyone doing anything to help. If all did just a little we can really help her. I hope so anyway.
