Help 2 Black & Disabled Siblings After Losing Home

PLEASE READ MOST RECENT UPDATE AT END OF STORY!

We have lost the home we've lived in for our entire lives. 2 Days Ago, police knocked on our door and told us that our house has been sold. Now we have until July 6th to find a place to live.

My family is a family of 2, consisting of a younger sibling (Dave, 24) who is autistic and his older sister (Eola, 25) who is physically disabled, left alone to take care of the 2 by herself after our father passed away last year.

Our father left the house to our older brother, who does not care for us due to the fact that he doesn't like our mother. The house being in his name, he sold it, without even telling either of us.

My father was 80 years old when he passed. A black man, an amazing father, and a hard worker. He ran away from a farm where he picked cotton as a sharecropper since he was old enough to pick cotton with his hands to Florida where he worked hard, years and years to pay off this house and secure his family to have something, even if it wasn't much, when he would eventually pass.

We did not receive any money when my father passed away, we did not receive anything and all we had was a roof to stand under, with this house.

We have been struggling and struggling every single day to just survive, there have been days and WEEKS where we have starved with no money and no food and no way of getting either. All of which, our older brother who has betrayed us now, ignored.

He's taken any money he's gotten from selling the house for himself and has not even considered trying to help us at all.

And now we have been told that we no longer have a home. We need money to secure a move to somewhere safe and the funds to be able to live until we can get ourselves stable (deposits if we can by some miracle find a place, and a few months rent) so we don't end up on the streets.

Even a few bucks could help, things have been so hard and we just want to have hope. Thank you!

If you would like to speak directly, please reach out to Eola's twitter at Velellarts .

UPDATE: After reaching our initial goal, WE ARE HAPPY TO SAY WE FOUND A PLACE TO LIVE! On Friday morning (7/24/20) we paid the down payment for a house rental!! We are so happy to say that in about a week, we will be able to move in.

But we never expected it to be so hard to find a place. Because we had to pay our rent for the entire year upfront we aren't left with much and the only place we could get accepted to doesn't come with appliances. We had to leave all of our furniture and appliances back in Florida so expenses have come up to more than we initially hopes.

Because of all of this we've decided to raise our goal. If you have the means to help, it would be much appreciated as the main thing we're worried about is a fridge to keep our food. As always, thank you so much for sharing, for donating, and for supporting us along this journey

UPDATE #2: We've decided to up the goal to what would make us safe and secure for the next year as we stabilize (disability claims getting decisions, securing housing and transportation.) Thank you again to everyone who has helped us so far! It's thanks to you all that we are able to have a warm place to sleep and food to eat. Bless.
