I have set up this fund by request from people who wanted to be sure their dollars went directly to Palestinians in need without any organizational costs.
My name is Jeannie Amash. I have been traveling to Palestine since 2016. In 2022, I was granted permission to visit Gaza.
I have been able to establish many personal relationships in the West Bank and in Gaza.
During this current genocide occuring in Gaza, Palestinians in the West Bank are also being subjected to extreme hardship. Many heads of households depended on permits to enter Israel for their jobs. Much of the labor force in Israel consisted of Palestinian laborers. Since October, these permits have been revoked. I know families struggling immensely due to this inability to work for so long . Some of them are also supporting extended families in refugee camps.
In Gaza, we have been able to get funds directly to people in need. Unfortunately, much of the aid entering Gaza is not reaching people who need it, and many are forced to purchase what little resources there are left at high prices. And because they had to flee their homes, have been subjected to pilfering by IOF, lost everything to bombings, many have no funds to accomplish this.
This fund is being divided into sections as follows.
1) Heads of households in West Bank to be able to get rent paid and food for their families during this war.
2) People in Rafah (cover photo) living in tents trying to feed their families as well as purchase clothes for children for the upcoming change of season.
3) A group of nearly 400 people that have taken refuge in the St. Porphyrius Greek Orthodox Church in Gaza City.
I know that just over 5000$ doesn't sound like much. I am hoping that we blow past it and provide even more nourishment! But, it will guarantee that some families in West Bank will not lose their homes, feed their families, and help their extended families for now. Pictured above is my friend "Omar" from Nablus and his mother, who lives in a refugee camp. He has been unable to support his family at all since October, and his wife is expecting. It will mean that a group of children my brave friend Amira Al-Zaneen is helping care for in Rafah will have adequate clothing and food. It will provide food for those sheltering in the church.
All funds go directly to these people through my established channels, meaning direct bank deposits and Western Union. Yes, my bank is still allowing transfers into Gaza and they are being received. For the sake of clarity, all of these funds are going to people that need food, clothing, and shelter. I have no ties to any political organizations.
We all thank you very much. I will be sure to send everyone who donated information on the specifics of how everything was distributed. It is a small number of people compared to the big scene, but it stands to give a spark of hope where there is currently much sadness and despair. When you give, people feel they have not been forgotten. This lifts the spirits tremendously. That feeling is as important as the money.
