2020 was a hard year for many, and our friend Jeff was among those for whom the year was especially difficult. Health issues, life changes, and the gentrification of his beloved Portland, to which he has been a fixture for close to forty years, have come together to make for a particularly hard winter and spring in 2021.
It is imperative that Jeff have a stable place to live before May of this year. While he is working with a non-profit to find housing, the transition will still be costly.I am setting up this fund to help assuage some of the costs of moving and replacing things that may not survive the move from his home for the last nineteen years. We will need to rent a moving van and hire assistance if we cannot find enough people to assist.
While we are feeling somewhat powerless in the face of the greed that has destroyed Portland for so many working class people, I know there is still a deeply felt sense of community. I am hoping we can all come together to demonstrate that in dark times, we take care of each other. Thanks.
