hi, my name is Ruby , me and my close group of friends are fundraising for early diagnosis cancer, by each running a leg of the Belfast marathon relay in may of 2026. My mum was diagnosed with stage 1b2 cervical cancer in the summer of 2022. Today, my mum is cancer-free. And she isn’t just moving forward, she’s using her own experience to raise awareness for early diagnosis and the importance of screening. She speaks openly, encourages others, and has become a source of strength and inspiration for women who might otherwise ignore or delay these life saving tests.
Her bravery and honesty have touched so many people. And now, my close friends and I want to honour her the best way we know how, by continuing her mission.
Why We’re Fundraising
Early detection saved my mum’s life. But not everyone is as lucky. Too many women face delayed diagnoses simply due to lack of access, awareness, or resources.
We’re fundraising to support early cancer detection programmes, awareness campaigns, and organisations that work tirelessly to ensure women get the screenings and education they need. These initiatives save lives, my mum is living proof.
Our Goal
With your help, we want to:
• Support charities that provide cervical cancer screenings and education
• Fund outreach programmes encouraging women to attend smear tests
• Help ensure more families get the same chance we did
Every donation big or small brings us closer to helping another woman catch cancer early, get treatment in time, and return to her family healthy and whole.
