Land's End to John O'Groats Challenge

As this year see's me celebrating a birthday ending with a "0", sadly not preceded with a 4 or a 5, I thought it was time I cycled Land's End to John O'Groats. The journey begins on Saturday 4th June.

 

I will be doing this as part of an organised trip, some would say taking the easy option, with my luggage being carried by someone else but you need some assistance at my age!

 

1,009 miles, 55,000+ ft of climbing over 14 days. Just hoping the knees can cope with the amount of climbing, being a Fen Boy hills are a novelty

 

I  am a keen cyclist, but this is going to be a challenge and not a holiday which my wife refers to; therefore I have decided to try and raise some money for the following local organisations:

 

St Andrews Primary School, Soham - as a thank you for their continued support for my Learn2Ride sessions.  Access to their playground has allowed me to offer this service in a safe environment to over 200 children in the last 3 years. The money raised will be used to benefit all the children

 

Ely Baby Bank - a community-based group, run by volunteers and based in Fordham. The Baby Bank provides and recycles essential baby items up to age 12 months for local families in need. Parents can visit the smallholding to look around the 10 sheds and take all they need with no charge. There are farm animals and a play area and a small café for people to meet and share time. Funds raised will help the group purchase consumables such as nappies and milk.
