A Call for Community Support

Hi friends,

I want to share something very personal with you all. My aunt Cristina was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She bravely navigated chemotherapy and recently underwent reconstructive surgery in June, combining breast reconstruction with an abdominoplasty using her abdominal tissue.

My aunt is incredibly strong and inspiring. Throughout her journey, she’s maintained an unwavering mindset and continued working to support herself. As an immigrant in this country, she has been offering cleaning services in New York, and she's also a skilled psychologist who provides therapy in Spanish only.

Right now, she’s in the crucial recovery phase and needs support to ensure she can fully heal without additional stress. Thankfully, insurance covered the major procedures, allowing her a healthier, implant-free reconstruction. However, the financial demands of rent, nourishing meals, and caregiving assistance exceed her current savings, despite her diligent preparation.

I’ll soon be traveling to New York to care for her, but my aunt will require ongoing assistance beyond my stay. My intention with this fund is simply to provide her with the necessary resources so she can rest, recover, and fully regain her health.

Her faith, calmness, and trust in the universe throughout this experience have been deeply inspiring. Although my aunt hasn't asked for help beyond wanting more (therapy) clients, I feel called to ask my community/friends for support--if you feel called to do so.
