My son Dexter is 8 years old. He has spent nearly his entire life on waiting lists for mental health support, six years, waiting for help that still hasn’t come. In that time, he has battled unimaginable challenges: self-harming, hearing negative voices/internal monologue, eating and smearing feces (pica and scatolia), and daily struggles at school. And through it all, he's been failed by a system that’s supposed to protect him.
