Running for Devon – Supporting Our Youth in His Name
On July 22nd, 2025, my world changed forever.
My son, Devon, was tragically murdered when driver, Terrence King, deliberately drove his car directly into him, killing him instantly at the scene. He suffered multiple fatal injuries. No parent should ever have to write those words. No family should have to live this reality.
Devon was a fun-loving, resilient, kind, and incredibly funny. He had a way of lighting up every room he walked into. He was lively, full of energy, and always stood up for the underdog. He supported others without hesitation and made people feel seen and valued.
Since his passing, younger children have written letters and poems about how much they miss him — some of which have even been published. That is the kind of impact my son had. His loss has devastated not only our immediate family but his wider community. He mattered, he was very loved. He still matters and we miss him beyond words. My heart hurts every day and always will.
To honour Devon, I am doing what I know how to do — I am going to run.
I will be running from Sale Cemetery to Blackley Cemetery, where Devon has been laid to rest. The distance is just 16 miles. This will be the first time I have visited his grave since his passing. It has been too painful to face. But I am ready now, with your support — for him.
I have less than 10 days to train and raise funds.
All money raised will go toward supporting young people in Devon’s community — to provide support, and hope. I truly believe Devon would have wanted us to give back to the community he was such a huge part of.
I will be filming my training and daily progress in the lead-up to the run, sharing the journey each step of the way.
This run is not just about the 16 miles between two cemeteries. It is about Devon and healing and it is about turning unimaginable pain into something positive on his 16th birthday.
Devon should still be here.
If you can, please donate, every penny is appreciated big or small. If you cannot donate, please share. If you are able to run with me, stand beside me. Your support means more than you will ever know — to me, to our family, and to the young people we hope to help in Devon’s name.
Let’s make a difference together, for my son.
Thank you
