We are a group of 16 dental students and 3 dentists, all from the University of Detroit Mercy's ASDA chapter, and we need your help in helping us provide dental care to those in Guatemala who have gone without dental care for most of their lives. 

Every year, our group travels abroad to provide dental care to those who don't even have access to some of the basic amenities that we in the United States have come to take for granted.
This year we will be going to Chichicastenango, Guatemala to help recreate smiles and rid patients of excrutiating pain that at times has hindered their ability to work. We expect to see a similar number patient as we did in years past, with an expectation of around 450 children and adults over a 7 day period, this August.

Our team will be providing oral healthcare education, cleanings, fluoride treatments and extractions to the underserved community. The treatment will be provided by dental students under the supervision of licensed dentists. . In addition to this we will be teaching locals in the community proper oral hygiene so they can use that newly aquired information to teach others in their community, thus empowering themselves and each other.

We, the dental students, are required to completely fund this trip and provide the supplies neccessary for the treatment that will be rendered. Tootbrushes, tooth paste and floss will also be provided to every individual in the community. The costs of all these quickly add up.

This is where you can help us achieve our goal by helping us offset the cost of supplies and travel. No matter how small or large the donation is, they all will help us in our goal of recreating smiles for those who live on a dollar a day.
