Hi there!
My name is Destinee. I'm a Charlottesville-based entrepreneur, activist, and artist. My dream is to be a successful entrepreneur that helps a lot of people achieve their dreams, too!
After graduating from UVa, I started a social media marketing and content creation business to help other small businesses. I love what I do and am excited about the possibilities! I currently work with several small businesses and nonprofits to help them with their online strategies. I also have a mobile hairstyling business with which I offer mobile hairstyling services to primarily Black women in the area. It's a passion of mine and I love being able to help people feel good about themselves!
Although I'm working really hard to grow my businesses, this last year was rough. I've been struggling with my mental health (depression, anxiety, and PTSD) and I hit a major low in the last few months. Living with mental health conditions can be challenging. Living with mental health conditions while running multiple businesses can oftentimes feel overwhelming! So, I decided to prioritize my healing and take on fewer clients. Since doing so, I've found myself in a bit of a tight spot financially. I've been trying to climb out of this financial hardship, but I can't do it alone.
After college, I saved up to get myself a car. I was making payments on it consistently, but when my mental health took a turn, I wasn't able to keep up. My car got repossessed! Both of my businesses require me to carry heavy equipment to and from each site. Without a way to get to and from my clients, I worry that I'll have to stop offering these services :( To get the car back, it would cost $1700 which would need to be paid by Dec 10th. If not, I'll have to pay that bill, then save to get another car! I'm asking for any support at this time. My businesses rely on me having transportation, and I want to fight to stay in business! Any and all help at this time would be so helpful!
Thank you,
Destinee
