I have a heart for serving our communities. I am a retired career firefighter so public service runs deep in my heart. In my spare time, my wife and I out collecting trash around our little but growing town.
Like you, I have been seeing stories on the National news showing groups coming together to build and give away free of charge to ANY child that needs one.
Why does a child need a desk when they can just sit at the kitchen table? I'm glad you asked.
Sitting at the kitchen table likely exposes the child to distractions like the TV, other children playing, or video games being played, just to name a few.
Studies show children who have a quiet space they can call their own do better with their school work.
The desk pictured is the desk I will build. It is two feet deep and four feet wide and 30 inches high.
I will also spray on a water-based polyurethane that can be painted or colored over so the child can make it their own.
