We are a team of Curtin University students working on a design-and-build project in Kulhudhuffushi, a northern Atoll in the Maldives. This follows on from field work and scoping from the 2024 student team, and now we’re turning those plans into real infrastructure for the community! We’ll be designing, organising and building this project from start to finish with the hopes to develop long lasting, sustainable community infrastructure such as a traditional barbecue, and a playground for local school children.
Where your donation goes:
• All funds raised will support materials, tools and local resources for the project
• Travel and personal costs are covered by the students themselves
• Any leftover funds will be donated to a partner charity in India, where we will also be involved with a design and build project for JGVK (an NGO supporting local communities in the Sundarbans).
This isn’t just about building structures, it’s about cultural exchange, community resilience and creating lasting impact! Every contribution helps us bring this project to life. Thank you for supporting student-led change ✨
This project isn’t a short visit or an outside initiative. It’s been developed through a long-term partnership between Curtin University and the Kulhudhuffushi Council, with local input guiding every step of the site planning and selection process as well as the design and build taking place this year, in order to make sure it is a reflection of the community’s needs and vision
