When doctors in Atlanta gave baby Logan a less than 30% chance of surviving birth, Nick and Fiona began searching for the best CDH specialist in the US. This led them to Dr. David Kays at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Fiona and Nick were determined to give Logan a fighting chance! As any parent would, they made the temporary move to St. Petersburg on Janurary 20th, 2016. Logan was born a VERY SICK baby on Feburary 23rd. He had his first surgery at less than a day old and was placed on ECMO (life support) a few hours later. Logan spent 21 days on ECMO, 29 days on a ventilator, had 56 blood transfusions, 44 x-rays, and 6 surgeries! All before 30 days old!!

Logan will have one more major surgery to fix 3 different issues in the upcoming weeks. We are pleased and excited to announce Logan is doing very well and, fingers-crossed, will be coming home soon!

Nick and Fiona have depleted their savings in the fight to save Logan’s life. When they finally come home, the medical expenses will continue. Over the next year, Logan will have weekly physical therapy, occupational therapy, and pediatrician visits. Additionally, Logan and family will have to go back to St. Petersburg to see Dr. Kays 3-4 times in 2016. This adds up to be a hefty burden! With your generous contribution, Fiona and Nick will continue to be able to give Logan the opportunity to grow into the person he is meant to be!
