Derbyshire Dales Trail Run for Mind (NAMH)

Hi, I'm Freya Kirkpatrick, I'm 17 years old and I'm running the Derbyshire Dales Trail Run half marathon in September to raise money for Mind UK - the National Association for Mental Health.

I sadly lost my mum, Jo, to suicide in September 2024. Mum worked tirelessly for years as a mental health nurse within and outside of the NHS, and throughout my childhood, she always encouraged me to speak out about how I was feeling. She helped the lives of so many, including my own, so to lose her to suicide was a massive shock to me and all of her loved ones, who she had many.

In 2023 alone, there were 6,069 registered suicides within England and Wales. Mental health support organisations such as Mind are massively underfunded, underappreciated and overworked. All the money raised will be used to fund Mind to be able to help anybody who needs it, bring communities together and support people to talk about their mental health.
