Depher CIC

If you haven't ever run a marathon, you probably don't realise that it isn't just about that 26.2miles on the day, it's the hundreds of miles that you have to run in preparation.
The longer and longer runs that take hours each week, the cold wet wintery mornings when you're stupid enough to sign up to a spring event and the hill sprints when you even more stupidly sign up to run a marathon in Yorkshire. But having followed rugby league player Rob Burrow and his campaigns for MND I felt that if I was ever going to do a marathon it should be this one.
However, MND will be getting a lot of support from this event and I wanted to raise money for a much less known community programme that is having a real impact on the lives of the elderly, disabled and vulnerable people, particularly in the current cost of living crisis.
Depher (Disabled & Elderly Plumbing & Heating Emergency Response) CIC is run by James Anderson and a team of people who provide free or discounted labour to those in need who can't afford the expensive rates from standard providers. Depher doesn't receive any government funding and all private donations go towards parts and food vouchers which they have now introduced based on what they are witnessing in the community.
I am an avid believer in any donations going to the front line and not management costs, and having followed James and Depher over the last year I can't think of many other causes where your donations can have such a direct impact on vulnerable people's lives. Not to mention supporting the efforts that James and the team contribute with their time.
If you can spare some money, it will be gratefully received, and even if you can't, please do read up about the incredible work that Depher are doing.
