This Summer I am blessed to be able to participate in Creighton University's Institute for Latin America Concern (ILAC) in the Dominican Republic. The ILAC program has been serving people of the Dominican Republic for over 40 years by staffing makeshift clinics in remote rural regions.
As a dental student participating in the ILAC program, I will be traveling down to the Dominican Republic to help to provide dental care for several local campos (small villages) that do not have regular access. I will be volunteering in an impoverished village in the Dominican Republic to help provide health care and education, and, equally important, I will be learning about the Dominican Republic culture and lifestyle. This 5-week immersion program takes place June 2017 and I look forward to volunteering my time and talents along side other student and professional volunteers to this worthwhile endeavor. As a future healthcare provider, I firmly believe that providing simple health care towards those less fortunate is an important virtue.
My goal is to raise $3,000 by June 20. This fundraiser is unlike many others. Your gift to the ILAC will not only help provide me the opportunity to participate in this program and provide dental care for the people in rural Dominican Republic, but also will buy medical supplies, food, and water for the lives that need it most. I am passionate about using my gifts to serve those in need, and very grateful for the opportunity for the ILAC experience. Please consider contributing to this cause.
