Celebrating Dennis Archambeault and Family Relief
Donation protected
This GoFundMe is being established to provide assistance to Dennis Archambeault’s family following his unexpected passing on June 29.
In February, Dennis was diagnosed with lung cancer, just two weeks after his partner Heidi was diagnosed with breast cancer. Heidi is still receiving treatment for her cancer. Months of radiation and chemo treatment followed Dennis’s diagnosis. His treatments were almost completed and seemed to be moving in the right direction throughout the process. His sudden passing on June 29 came as a shock to family, including his partner of over three decades who cared for him up until his final moment.
“As Dennis’ son, I thank my father for teaching me to live a life of compassion and never-ending support. He taught me to work hard and encourage the change that I wish to see in the world. He also showed me the importance of continuous personal growth throughout one’s lifetime. He provided both me and my mother with a sense of stability in even the most turbulent of times. I feel lucky to call him my father.” —William Archambeault
In 2023, Dennis and Heidi reigned over the Mardi Gras krewe Société Des Champs-Élysées as King Hasameli and Queen Luna. During his tenure with the krewe, Dennis participated in numerous social aid programs to help various communities across New Orleans and provided a home for the krewe’s food pantry. Due to his status as former king, we are planning to give him a royal sendoff with his krewe on Mardi Gras Day (March 4, 2025).
“Dennis had a certain ‘goodness’ about him. It was not often expressed verbally or enthusiastically, but always by his actions. He was a lesson in kindness and humility. I am honored to have been able to spend 31 years with him.” —Heidi Diekelman
Numerous people have reached out asking how to be of assistance, so we have established this GoFundMe to help relieve some of the burden caused by Dennis’ sudden passing. Willie traveled over thirty hours from Japan, where he is currently finishing a graduate program, in order to assist his mother. However, he can only remain in New Orleans for a short period before having to return to his studies. There are a few things you can do to assist. Financial assistance is very much appreciated, but there are also other ways to help. Heidi is without transportation and has numerous medical appointments and a surgery on the calendar. Her mobility is restricted, but she can drive. If you are able to offer rides or assist with car repairs, that would be very helpful. There is a suspected air conditioning leak that needs repair and a couple of simple legal documents to be executed. Please feel free to reach out for details if you can assist.
Even if you cannot donate, please share this GoFundMe and the information widely.
Dennis’ partner Heidi Diekelman and their son William Archambeault would like to thank everyone for their support during these difficult times. Goals will be updated as needs become evident. We welcome and encourage people to share their memories of Dennis and to continue to share the type of endless support he offered with those around them.
