The Denbigh Forget Me Not Project was originally started in March of this year . It was aimed at providing a fortnightly 2 hour session for vulnerable individuals , elderly , carers to have a break etc , however sadly due to COVID19 we were unable to carry on further sessions .Instead we used the Project as a platform to commence a volunteer group to help those struggling due to the crisis .
We have delivered over 5500 leaflets within Denbigh and surrounding villages . We have 250 volunteers on our register and help approximately 25 people a day with shopping , prescription delivery , dog walking and friendly phone calls .
We initially had funding from the Town Council which we were grateful for to set up , however we had no idea how the project would take such a dramatic turn and the scale of what this project would become . We have no pennies in the banks !!! We have had donations from DMTC to buy lanyards etc , The Freeman Evans funded 2000 leaflets , Tina Griffiths donated a phone etc .
But , I have been using my own ink , own paper and paying for top ups on the project phone , and buying gloves etc which sadly I can not sustain .
We are committed that no one should face this crisis alone . We need more volunteer lanyards , leaflets , phone top up cards , printer inks and paper to sustain the project .We have helped over 200 local people so far .If you were able to help by donating £1 then I’m sure we could raise some funds between us.
Thankyou all so much ,
On behalf of our fabulous committee - stay safe
