HI, we are hoping to raise funds for our mother Mary. She recently found out that the family home we have lived in for 54years has a rare form of asbestos (not the typical one found in older suburbs), but a friable type from an unknown source. As a result is unable to sell and sadly has to be demolished.

As you might know, the cost for demolition of a house adds up quickly. Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover any of it, and Mary is facing $115,000 in out of pocket expenses over the next few months. These funds will go directly toward paying for the demolition of her house.

Mary is a 76 year old widowed pensioner who has dedicated her life to working / volunteering with the elderly and people with disabilities. Even to this day she puts her own health issues aside to help the community by volunteering weekly at the local food bank and disco for people with disabilities. In November 2025 Mary decided to downsize and wanted to install a new Air Conditioner before selling. Asbestos was discovered by the contractor. Mary then complied with all directions given to her by the local council and paid for professional testing and air monitoring before being told she could sell the house.

An offer was placed and accepted, however 2 weeks from settlement the local government issued a work order on the property.

After 8 months of stress and heartache she was left with no option but to demolish the house.

Any donation, no matter how small, makes a difference and relieves a massive burden on Mary and family.
