Let me tell you about a special lady... my mother Delores Dobson. Delores is the most kindhearted and generous person I know who is always there with a listening ear for anyone that needs it. For those that know her she is a problem solver, supporter, and a faithful friend. She is a child of God, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, writer, and friend. Having always been a healthy person, a life threatening diagnosis of a rare type of cancer shocked our whole family.
In March my mother noticed that there was swelling and a tightening in her right thigh causing to to appear enlarged. Feeling a little concerned she had a nurse at her work take a look at it and then reached out to her doctor. Thankfully her doctor put things in motion and my mother went in for an MRI. It was determined that she would need to see a specialist to clarify the findings. Through the following weeks and many appointments it was confirmed that she has a very rare type of cancer called undifferentiated spindle cell sarcoma. This cancer develops in connective tissue like muscles and fat which produces a tumor that is very aggressive and fast growing. The current treatment plan consists of immunotherapy infusions every 3 weeks, radiation, and surgery.
Of course all of these treatments come with a price tag, and although insurance does cover some my mother is still left with large copays and a balance. Needless to say she is early in her treatment and additional medical costs are inevitable. Post surgery care, medical appointments, repeated scans, travel expenses to medical appointments, and continued treatment all come with a cost. The chances of this type of cancer spreading is likely as is recurrence. With both of my parents being of retirement age and with little finances coming in, being able to afford the medical costs is overwhelming. With that said we are a family of faith and know that God has a plan for all of this. "This did not take him by surprise," as my mother often says. If you find that you are being led to help support my mother financially, we are grateful. If you are able to come alongside us in prayer, we are equally as grateful. Another way that you could help support Delores is by sharing this page. Every dollar that is raised will go directly to helping ease the financial burden and stress that has been associated with receiving the medical care needed.
We truly appreciate the kindness, prayers, and support that you are able to give to Delores during this time.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
