My Trip to the DNC Convention!!

Hey! Thanks for checking out my fundraising page. My name is Steve Abreu, and I'm a 27 year old Latino activist and student from Long Island, New York. I've been elected as a Bernie Delegate in the 3rd Congressional District, with 19,195 votes,
and have the honor of attending the DNC Convention in July.

Unfortunately, as some of you may know, we are required to stay in a specific high-priced hotel.  Neither the Party nor the campaign is able to provide funds for us to go; we have to pay out of pocket for room, travel, parking and food due to FEC laws. 

I created this fundraiser to avoid Berning a hole in my wallet and appreciate any amount you feel comfortable offering!! This will be my first, and last, GoFundMe campaign :)

I have been an active Bernie supporter since last June, canvassing across the NYC boroughs and around Long Island as well.  I established my school's first and only Bernie group "SUNY Old Westbury for Bernie Sanders" and managed to register over 300 new voters, hold several debate parties and town hall watch parties, and even had the pleasure of hosting a YUUUGE Celebs for Bernie event with Kal Penn, Shailene Woodley, Kendrick Sampson, Ed Droste, and Amer Zahr, which is where my profile picture was taken!  I was featured several times in college radio interviews and the school newspaper for my activism on campus and have garnered the support of students and faculty alike!  I set up a table on campus at least 2-3 times a week for 2-4 hours at a time, registering voters, reminding people about election day and spreading the word about Bernie and his political revolution.

As a candidate to be a Delegate, I worked very hard in January to get Bernie on the NY Primary ballot. Standing out in the cold relentlessly collecting signatures, I brought in over 500 unique signatures not including the hundreds more that were collected by my volunteers! I've gotten involved with canvassing efforts in Long Island and even New Hampshire as well as phonebanking for Primaries across the country. Even got to see Bernie speak after we canvassed in NH!!

Also, I am the Founder of the Facebook Page "Bernie On This Day" where I upload a video of Bernie "On This Day In History" for people to see how consistent Bernie's record really is! 

I'm very honored to have been elected as a District Delegate and look forward to playing an active role at the Convention in July!!

Hotel: $3,750
Travel: $200-1000’s depending on distance 
Food: $300
Total Costs on Average: $>5000
