Declan O'Shea Eagle Project

Hello, my name is Declan O'Shea. I am currently a Life Scout with Troop 201 in Scottsdale. I am fundraising for my Eagle Scout project, which will be the creation of hygiene kits for underprivileged youth. The Phoenix Rescue Mission claims that there were almost 1,250 homeless people under the age of 18 in Maricopa County in 2020. The Arizona Department of Child Safety claims that more than 14,000 children in the foster care system in Arizona. As many of these kids end up with little more than the clothes on their back, it is important to provide hygiene kits to help keep these kids happy and healthy.

 

These kits will consist of draw-string bags, toothbrushes, toothpaste, tissues or wet wipes, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, lip balm, dental floss, shampoo, conditioner, hair combs, and water bottles. It is expected to cost about $25 to assemble each kit, and our goal is to produce 250 kits, meaning our fundraising goal is $6250. So any money or supplies you can spare will be greatly appreciated.

 

Myself and a group of volunteers will be assembling and delivering these kits on 1/16/22 so donations will be accepted through 1/14/22 to ensure that we can obtain all materials before the project day. Once these kits are assembled they will be delivered to the beneficiary of this project, Arizona Helping Hands, who will distribute these to families around the valley.

 

This is a project that I am very passionate about and I want to make as much of an impact as possible as these kits are very important to the people who need them.
