On Friday May 15, a tornado struck the communities between Somerset, KY and London, KY around 11:30pm. Lives were lost and properties were devastated.

My sister and her family thankfully escaped the storm with their lives, but their home is a complete loss.

Ashley, her husband, Mat, and her two children are completely displaced and are temporarily staying in a hotel. They have salvaged what sentimental belongings that they can, but they have lost almost everything they owned. Mat’s parents and mamaw lived next door. Their homes are also demolished.

They will now begin the process of rebuilding their lives and their home. They are proud, hard working people. Ash is a teacher who loves her students. Mat works at the local jail. It is easier for them to help others than to ask for help from others.

The strength and resiliency that they have all shown after this devastation has been amazing to witness. They are literally and figuratively starting from the ground up. I am asking for some help for my sister. Absolutely anything would help to lighten the load.
