Deaf Georgia Vote Blue

Here's the transcript for the video.

Congratulations to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for winning this election. It was a great victory for all of us, but the battle is not over.

The Republicans and Democrats are racing for the last two senate seats in Georgia. Georgia has an election law that requires a minimum 50% to win the seat. Both races failed and must race again. It’s called runoff. Democrats need both seats to rule the Senate.

I have a proposal: Get Deaf vote.

There are about 679,500 Deaf People living in Georgia. It is possible to get at least 10% vote, 68,000 Deaf votes.

What do Deaf people value? Deaf rights. The right request interpreters, captioning, and access services.

The two Republican candidates are David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. Both voted for Trump's plan to cut Deaf services and diminish Deaf rights. That made things tougher to request interpreters, tougher to get proper captioning, and difficult to access deaf services.

The Democratic candidates are Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. They both support and expand Deaf rights because they work and fight for civil rights.

Do you want to see red change to blue?  Please support my project, Deaf Georgia Vote Blue? My goal is to get 68,000 Deaf votes.

Thank you for watching. Please support this project.

G-A go Blue!

Letter:

Hi Everyone,

I forgot to introduce myself in the video. My name is Virginia Shou. I am Deaf. I grew up in Georgia and graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design. I currently work as a Visual Designer in New York City. Since Governor Brian Kemp declared the Senate will have a runoff, I feel I want to give back Deaf Community by going back to Georgia for a few months. My partner, Trevor Baldwin and I will leave for Georgia Saturday. We will stay with my family in Acworth, Georgia.

We will interact and work with Georgia Deaf leaders and the Democratic candidates. Then, we will set up deaf gathering or town hall meetings or arrange accommodations for the deaf for the candidates' rallies. We still will follow COVID-19 standard safety. We will encourage and discuss with Deaf people about their Deaf rights. Many are not aware of their Deaf rights. Having access to information is a basic human right. The Democratic candidates are civil rights activists, and we need the Deaf to understand and acknowledge their work. Time for POLITICIANS acknowledge Deaf votes!

Your donations will be greatly appreciated. The money will go to ASL interpreters, transportation, food, lodging, gas, venues, COVID-19 Safety, and educational materials.

EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
LET'S FLIP GEORGIA BLUE!

Please spread the word and thank you for your awesome support!

Cheers,
Virginia Shou
