I am an proud aboriginal (kamilaroi) man, who is passionate about improving Science education for indigenous kids- that’s why I am starting Deadly Science.
My first goal is to provide science books and early reading material to every remote school in Australia. I started this project after I found out that one school I’d been talking to had only 15 books in its library- for the whole school! I know from personal experience that books can change lives, and these kids deserve nothing but the best. I also want to make sure each of these schools has a copy of Bruce Pascoe’s book “Dark Emu”, about indigenous science. It’s time that people knew the real history of our people.
I have been collecting donations of books from staff and students at the University of Sydney, and I’ve also been generously supported by Professor Brian Cox and Dr Karl, who have given me many signed copies of their books. We are now supplying books to 78 schools in all states and the Northern Territory.
At the moment I am not funded by any organisation this campaign is for paying the cost of transporting the books. But now we are scaling up, I need your help.
Every donation to Deadly Science will help pay the transport costs to send books, and buy a copy of Dark Emu for each school.
This is just the start: stay tuned for the new Deadly Science podcast, and please feel free to contact me with questions or suggestions.
