Legal & Medical Support for DC Abolition Activists

Donation protected
This morning, October 1st, activists with the DC Abolition Coalition, the Campaign to Fight Toxic Prisons, and more, locked down to ladders at the U.S. Department of Justice in solidarity with the demands of incarcerated freedom fighters in Alabama prisons.

5 comrades were extracted and arrested over the course of the day. They are still in jail and need funds for court costs and potential medical needs. Our comrades were put in cages by the state in solidarity with freedom fighters in Alabama who are fighting cages from the inside everyday. All funds not used will go towards the ongoing campaign to achieve justice for our comrades in the Alabama DOC.

We are disgusted with the inhumane abuses we have seen at the hands of the ADOC and today our comrades decided to take a stand. If you cannot support those who put their bodies on the line financially, consider organizing your own action targeting the ADOC.

Of the 5 comrades arrested 4 were locked down and forcibly removed, some with angle grinders. One person arrested was just there in support and not locked down. One activist, locked to a ladder by a U-lock around her neck, had only a blanket thrown over her head as Homeland Security used an angle-grinder to cut through the lock. Another activist who’s arms were inside a lock-box was removed from sight while Homeland Security agents cut through his lock box with an angle grinder providing no protection whatsoever to his bare arms. We do not currently know if and to what extent they may have injuries.
