Dayna Paul and Baby Brandon

Hi, my name is Nicole Paul and I’m starting this fundraiser for my sister Dayna, Ben and their sweet little Boy Brandon.

Brandon was born at 26 weeks (14 weeks early). He was born in Dryden on July 29th at 2am weighing 2lbs. He immediately started fighting for his life with the help of all working in emerge that night. Although being unequipped to handle a preemie, they did so well and we are so grateful!

He was air lifted to the NICU in Winnipeg where he continues to grow under the 24 hour care of the doctors and nurses.

This was the update I was given today from Dayna:

He has had respiratory failure and has been ventilated since arrival.

He has bleeding in the tissue on the right side of the brain, as well as bleeding in the left chamber of his brain.

He had a pocket of air surrounding his heart, which has resolved on its own.

He has Pneumothorax (an abnormal amount of air between his lung and chest wall)- resulting in chest tube insertion.

He has blood in his lungs

He’s had multiple ultrasounds, and X-rays. Multiple amounts of blood work done as well as blood transfusions.

This sweet little boy has a long road ahead of him and needs his mama by his side every step of the way. I’m so proud of their strength through all of this.

****Update from Dayna yesterday (August 3rd):

So he has grade 4 intraventricular hemorrhage in his brain. They are going to do a repeat ultrasound Monday. Sadly at this time there’s nothing they can do about it. If he lives, he’s going to have a hard life… They could put a shunt in on the one side to help remove some fluid. But a brain bleed as bad as his doesn’t usually result in good things…

Update August 5th:

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we had to say goodbye to our sweet little Brandon. He was under the best care but the fight was too much for him.

We appreciate all the endless love and support through all of this but are requesting some space so Dayna and Ben have some time to grieve the loss of their beautiful little boy. He was surrounded by his loved loved ones and passed the morning of the 5th in the arms of his mom and dad.

We are asking for $15,000 for them so that it gives them some time to navigate through such a terrible loss.

The funds will be going to bills at Dayna’s house just so they can grieve in the peace of their home surrounded by their 4 loving dogs.

They are extremely grateful for all the help throughout this.
