In Gashora, Rwanda, a teenage pregnancy often means the end of a girl’s childhood — and the end of her education. Dreams of school, learning, and building a future are abruptly replaced with pressure to stay home and care for a child. For some, these young mothers were as young as 13, and many became pregnant as a result of assault.

Yet despite everything, when asked about their dreams, every single one says they want to go back to school. These courageous girls deserve the chance to learn, grow, and build a better life — and their babies deserve care, love, and the opportunity to thrive.

Without support, these babies often go without proper care and early learning, and many suffer from malnutrition. Left without help, the cycle of missed education, limited opportunity, and poor health can repeat from one generation to the next.

We believe every young mother deserves a second chance, and every child deserves love, care, and the opportunity to flourish. That’s why we opened the first daycare in our community — a safe, nurturing space where babies of teen mothers are cared for while their mothers return to school.

At our daycare, children receive:

-Nutritious meals to fight malnutrition (for both the children and their mothers)

-Play and early-learning activities to support healthy development

-Compassionate, professional care from trained staff

While their children are safe and cared for, mothers can return to school, gain confidence, and pursue their dreams.

We created this GoFundMe to keep the daycare running, growing, and fully stocked with everything these children and mothers need.
