About Dayananda Kalalayam:

Founded in 2015 by Vaishali Ramachandran with the blessings of her Gurus and inspired by the teachings of Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Dayananda Kalalayam has evolved from a humble dance school to a cherished space for learning, performing, and fostering a deeper appreciation for Bharatanatyam.

At Dayananda Kalalayam, we believe Bharatanatyam is a transformative journey of discipline, creativity, and cultural pride. Our mission is to instill a love for the art form while guiding students of all ages and abilities to discover their potential. We offer a nurturing environment that balances tradition with innovation and teaching with performing.

Our growth over the years has expanded beyond classes to include other artistic initiatives and community events. From Natyodaya and Pravardhana to Guru Samarpana, we have celebrated the beauty of Bharatanatyam while not only providing our students with opportunities to shine on stage but also engaging the larger community in these cultural experiences.

2024: A Quick Look Back

Kala Shreshta Award: Vaishali Ramachandran was honored with the prestigious "Kala Shreshta" title by South India Fine Arts for her over 10 years of contribution to the arts.

Natyodaya Dance Festival: We presented “Shiva Shakti Vilasam,” a thematic program showcasing the artistry of our students and Artistic Director.

Pravardhana - Solo Chamber Concert Series: Curated two intimate solo Bharatanatyam concerts to provide students with the opportunity to present to an intimate audience.

Guru Samarpana: Celebrated our 9th Guru Samarpan, an annual showcase where our teachers, students, and the director offer their respects to the Guru Parampara.

Community Events: Our students participated in multiple programs at temples and local community events across the Bay Area.

Master Classes with Guru Dr. Padmaja Suresh: Hosted both in-person and virtual master classes, allowing our students to learn from a renowned master of the art form.

Workshops for the Community: We hosted 3 highly appreciated workshops by Guru Dr. Padmaja Suresh, which were widely well-received by the community.

Student Arangetram: We proudly presented our first student arangetram for Kum. Sanjana Ganesan in August 2024.

2025: Looking Ahead

As we reflect on 2024, we are filled with immense gratitude for the incredible year we've had. From watching our students grow into confident performers to collaborating with esteemed artists, it has been a year of expansion and achievement. This journey wouldn’t be possible without the constant support of our community.

Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue our mission of nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and sharing Bharatanatyam with the world. To make this possible, we are seeking to raise $10,000. These funds will support our artistic programs, performances, and allow us to continue providing high-quality experiences for our students and the community.
