STAND WITH KIM!! 24 Year Daycare Provider

This fundraiser is for my sister, Kimberly Adams, who is looking for justice and needs help covering legal costs to fight for the reopening of her family childcare business. She has 14 days from today to get a lawyer and fight the revocation.

My name is Keri Salvaggio, and I’ve looked up to Kim my entire life. She’s been a role model not just to me, but to countless families who’ve trusted her with their children.

For 24 years, Kim has dedicated her career to caring for children in her home childcare. While she is known as Ms. Kim to her daycare families, many also know her as a loving wife, mother, auntie, coach, and friend. Caring for children has always been her passion and her purpose. In all that time, she has never had anything on her record, and it should be concerning to parents and providers alike that the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) has the power to take away someone’s daycare, their livelihood, and their income with no justification.

On July 31st, allegations were made against Kim’s program after an interaction between her dogs and the licensor on a day when her daycare was closed. Confident she had done nothing wrong, Kim voluntarily paused operations during the investigation and was assured her program would reopen once it was complete. After a full review, the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) investigator cleared her completely, finding no noncompliances or safety issues and even confirming her dogs posed no threat to children.

Despite these findings, and the fact that she has a clean record of 24 years the EEC arbitrarily disregarded the results of its own investigation and refused to allow Kim to reopen until they consulted with their legal team. In order to reopen, she would have to sign a legal agreement that did not reflect the findings in their own investigation report. They imposed new standards not applied to any other childcare provider with pets in Massachusetts, and even though Kim responded immediately to every request, EEC often failed to respond for days or weeks. This left her unable to earn a living since August. Not only did they take away her home childcare, they also took away her business, her livelihood, and the future she had worked so hard to build. This closure also left daycare families scrambling for reliable, affordable care with no notice, disrupting children’s routines and causing stress for families who rely on her.

After months of cooperation and waiting, Kim was recently notified that her license has been revoked. She is now preparing to appeal through the Division of Administrative Law Appeals, but needs legal representation to fight for her livelihood. After months without income, she simply can’t afford the cost alone.

This fight is about more than Kim’s childcare; it’s about standing up for fairness and due process for all childcare providers. Kim has spent decades nurturing children, supporting families, and volunteering in her community.

Every share, message, and donation helps Kim fight to restore what she has spent her entire life building. Thank you for standing beside her. Kim has always been there for others; now it’s our turn to be there for her.

Thank you for your love, prayers, and support.
