Dawn's legacy - Duski Grace’s education in PNG

Donation protected
In the eyes of the Fore, Duski Grace was Dawn’s adopted daughter. The customary adoption was sanctioned by the Village Chief, who wanted the child to come and live in Australia, and was recognised in the local courts.

Young Duski Grace was a namesake for Dawn’s first Dusky. It was customary for the Fore to give children born out of wedlock to an older couple who couldn’t have children and so Duski Grace was given to Dawn and Purago when she was three months old.

Dawn thought of Duski Grace as her daughter, and loved her as one. Having Duski Grace come and live with Dawn in Australia was her last unfulfilled wish. For well over ten years and until the end, Dawn fought to have the adoption legally recognised in Australian and PNG law and to bring Duski to Australia.

Ensuring that Duski Grace receives a good education was extremely important to Dawn. Dawn organised for Duski Grace to be living with extended family in Goroka so she can attend the Goroka Grammar School. She is currently in grade 6 and her school fees, per year, are about $4400 (or K 8200).

Dawn paid Duski Grace’s school fees. She wanted Duski to finish school and graduate in year 12.

Let's do what we can to make Dawn's wish come true.

Please contribute to Duski’s school fees, if you can. Any contribution will be gratefully received.
