David's Place, An LGBTQ Safe Haven
Donation protected
In October 2024 I will be backpacking the length of Shenandoah National Park, a trek of just over 100 miles. It’s more than just a hiking trip though - it's an opportunity to help homeless and marginalized LGBTQ+ young people.
I'll be raising funds for David's Place , a safe haven for homeless LGBTQ+ youth in Dayton, OH. Founded by my sister Sandy in memory of my nephew, David's Place is a space for marginalized young people who are facing homelessness, discrimination, and violence due to their gender identity or sexual orientation.
David’s Place offers vital services to displaced LGBTQ+ youth that include counseling, social groups, and gathering spaces; hygiene and medical services; a quiet educational workspace and library; and referrals to other support services. David’s Place makes a difference for young people in crisis, every single day.
Can you donate 25 cents per mile of my hike? That’s $25. A nickel per mile is just $5! Your donation, no matter the size, will directly support David’s Place and LGBTQ+ youth in crisis, and is tax deductible! Please share this to your friends if you are inclined.
Thank you for joining me on this adventure! Follow @novanaturalist on Instagram where I'll be posting periodic updates leading up to the hike. And thank you for supporting David’s Place.
Peace,
– Doug
