Bushfires have been burning in Australian since September of 2019 and have caused widespread devastation. 14 million acres have been burned, 2,500 homes destroyed and a staggering 1 billion animals killed including koalas, kangaroos and endangered species of all types. Heavy rains this week will douse some of the flames but the danger is not over yet and there is a long road to recovery. The Australian government just announced that 113 species will need “urgent help” after their numbers and habitats have been decimated. As an example, Koalas are among those needing “emergency intervention” to support recovery. Miraculously, some Koalas have been rescued and the koala hospitals are overflowing. Rescued Koalas are often suffering from scorched paws that prevent them from climbing trees, severe dehydration and lung and other organ damage. With these fires being so widespread and impacting key areas of animal habitat, now more than ever, every individual animal matters in conservation.


Help is desperately needed and we are asking Informa employees around the globe to give to  Wildlife Victoria (www.wildlifevictoria.org.au/). Funds will be deployed to:

Financially support wildlife shelters in the direct path of the bushfires to care for the influx of animals from the bushfire zones. many of which will need many months of intensive rehabilitation.
Financially support local wildlife rescue groups to rescue and support, feed surviving animals in and around bushfire affected areas
Financially support mobile triage units for animals in fire affected areas across Victoria
Assist with habitat regeneration projects to ensure that rehabilitated animals have somewhere to return to when they are ready to be released.

We are helping to raise money for this important cause, and Informa has generously agreed to a limited matching of funds that are raised by the employees.
