Hi all,

Many of you got to meet my father at the Oyster Roast we threw last October in Houston, a few short weeks before he suddenly passed on my parent's drive back to North Carolina. It was such a pleasure for my father to meet and spend time with so many of my friends for a few hours that Saturday, and the circumstances afterwards made it that much more special.

In searching for the best way to honor his memory, we thought there no better way than to establish an annual memorial Oyster Roast each fall with the goal of raising funds to benefit some of the passions my father held most dear. With your generosity, we have selected Urban Harvest Houston as the primary beneficiary of any funds raised from the First Annual DWO Memorial Oyster Roast. This organization speaks directly to one of Pops' lifelong passions and efforts in increasing awareness and education through agricultural outreach via online and in person classes, farmer's markets, permaculture, and much more.

More than anything, coming together each year aligns with another one of Pops' passions: community and fellowship with the ones you love, and over one of our favorite foods: Oysters done the Old-School North Carolina Way! Please come out on Nov. 4th and if you feel so compelled, give a little bit to continue benefiting others in the way Pops did for so many for so long.
