When David Swift passed this year, Jackson Hole lost one of its shining lights. But he left behind a comprehensive 40-year photographic record of everyday life in Jackson Hole. From weddings, to graduations, to art, to commerce, David's work touched almost everyone in the valley. And now, to honor him, we want to create a permanent archive of his work available to the future generations of Jackson Hole. His contribution to the visual history of Jackson Hole is unparalleled.
Twenty years of David's work is on film (slides and negatives). These need to be preserved and scanned. The funds raised will go towards continuing rent on his office where his archive is stored, an editor/archivist who will select the images to be scanned, scanning costs, digital image processing and logging, and finally archiving the image in a database for public use. We envision the project taking approximately 6 months to complete once we hire the editor.
Your support means so much to everyone who loved David and his photographic vision. It will also ensure that the visual history of Jackson Hole is preserved.
Thanks from all of us who loved David for keeping his "eye" alive.
