Help David Marsh replace his toolkit and repair his workshop

As many of you will have seen Stockport has been terribly affected by New Year storm that has wreaked havoc with people’s homes and businesses.

We only learnt yesterday that our good friend David is one of those people. His entire business is completely destroyed. Bang; gone overnight.

David has helped us with both our businesses Object Style and Auteur Store designing and building beautiful store fit outs as well as many home projects. He’s a really talented, hard-working cabinet maker who has had his livelihood over-turned in 24 hours.

David’s workshop is located at Meadow Industrial Estate, one of the worst hit places. It’s currently drowning in about 2 metres of water with about £15,000 worth of kit totally ruined. The water current was so strong it literally blasted through an industrial electrical shutter.

Unfortunately due to the site location being classed a ‘small’ (the irony) flood risk in 2022 he was unable to obtain insurance against flooding. Obviously no person in their right mind would take on a premise if they thought they were at risk of this level of devastation, nobody saw it coming.

David is fully self-employed. If he has no tools or workshop he simply cannot work. There’s no back up plan here, it’s an absolute shit situation in which someone has been left in a completely dire position that he cannot sort out independently.

In addition to the loss of equipment, he’s also lost all materials pre-purchased for upcoming projects as well as completed works that were due for installation. Can you even begin to imagine the worry and pressure of not only playing catch up to this amount of work as a one-man-band never mind when you’ll even be able to start ?
