Obituary for David J. Leyva
David J. Leyva, son, father, husband, brother, son-in-law, cousin and friend, was most commonly and affectionately known as “Chief.”

David was born on August 30, 1973 in Guadalajara, Mexico to parents J. Felix and Teresa Leyva. Sadly, on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, David passed away peacefully in his sleep. David is survived by his wife, Nicole Leyva of 16 years and father to three children Desiree, Gabriel and Ariana.

David had a vivacious, bigger than life personality. He would fill the room with his presence both in size and loudness. He had the ability to command attention and respect from the entire room but with a teddy bear sweetness. Everyone that was lucky enough to be part of David’s life always felt his love, happiness and zest for life. His hugs were amazing and always welcoming. His love had no bounds and he always brought joy to all events. Birthday, holidays, family dinners, beach getaways, any and all life’s events were more fun with David there.

David was very athletic as he grew up. His childhood friends have endless stories of playing outside and being rambunctious. David had a true love for all sports, especially baseball and football, starting from a young age. His love and support for sports continued by actively coaching in the community and personally encouraging and coaching his own children.

David’s work ethic was amazing. He was a true leader at heart, with the ability to take charge and manage the most difficult teams. He showed leadership and lived life through the motto “lead by example.”

David will be deeply missed by loved ones, family, friends, coworkers and anyone else lucky enough to have met him.

…. and shit!
