Recently I was asked by a friend to fill in for Girls Gotta Run in the Berlin Marathon as one of their original runners had to drop out.

I am an American living in Germany. I work here as a teacher at an international school. I ran the Frankfurt marathon in 2023 and also occasionally participate in trail races. This will be my second marathon and my first one fundraising for a charity.

Girls Gotta Run is an amazing organization that provides education and sports access to girls in Ethiopia who normally have a hard time affording school. As someone who works in education I think this is one of the most valuable causes there is and can have a huge positive impact on people‘s lives. If you look at the website you can see how the programs not only benefit the girls but also their entire family, and even the community. It’s an honor to represent them in the Berlin Marathon and all contributions are greatly appreciated.
