David Bias and his Family

Donation protected
On Saturday January 13, 2024, David Bias received a phone call that made him feel like he was living a terrible nightmare. His son, Collin Bias, was involved in a single car roll over accident on I-57 near Peotone, Illinois merely 2 miles from his home. Collin was found 60 feet from his vehicle and was transported by emergency services to Riverside Hospital in Kankakee, Illinois. Collin was attended to by medical staff for approximately 3 hours prior to being airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.

Collin was preliminarily diagnosed with a broken pelvis, 8 fractured vertebrae, a broken clavicle, along with blunt force trauma to his entire body. Collin was placed on a ventilator due to the severity of the trauma that his body was enduring. Collin is suffering from 4 independent brain bleeds and his mental well being is still unknown. Medical professionals are optimistic about Collin’s physical recovery, however the path regarding his mental recovery is completely unknown.

With the cost incurred from traumatic medical care in the United States, this catastrophic accident is going to minimally yield hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills. There are various avenues to pursue financial assistance, however programs like Medicaid are limited and entail various qualifying factors. Due to Collin’s current condition, medical staff at Loyola Medical Center have indicated that his potential for a full recovery is unknown.

Collin is the youngest of three triplets born in January of 2001. He is one of the wittiest young men you could ever meet. He is always able to brighten a room with his smile and dry sense of humor. He is respectful and always willing to help anyone, anywhere, anytime. Collin loved going to the gym and boxing. This past summer Collin picked up golf just to spend more time with his dad and brother.

Collin has been in ICU since January 13, 2024 and is anticipated to be there for the near future. Even once he is discharged from the hospital he is going to have a very long road to recovery, and medical staff is unsure if he will ever make a full recovery. If we are able to lift a portion of the financial burden from Collin and his family it could be a breath of fresh air at the time of both physical and financial devastation. Any funds donated will be used solely for medical bills, supplemental income to offset Collin’s inability to work, transportation cost as his vehicle was totaled and he only had liability coverage, and any potential housing costs at a rehabilitation facility that he may eventually be transferred to.

A minimal donation can make a huge impact on Collin’s life.
