Hi We are Ivy's parents. Joseph Johnson and my fiancé Ashley Garnett. It all started when we found out that she had twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS)at 22 weeks without surgery to correct the ttts Ivy wouldn't have made it..and we could loose both! With surgery we still had a good chance of loosing Ivy....ONLY A 30% chance to have both twins survive, 80% chance that atleast one twin would survive... we had no choice but to have the surgery and thanks to the AMAZING FETAL MATERNAL MEDICINE TEAM AT TAMPA GENERAL HOSPITAL They both survived!!! ( Special shout out to doctor A. Rodriguez without him none of this would have been possible! Doc. Obician as well)They fought very hard for weeks to come with lots of close calls. It was such a ROLLERCOASTER ride one week they would be stable ,the next we were talking survival rates we now had absent cord flow to Ivy The following week things would change and were told they improved THIS WEEK IS A WIN!.. We did this back an fourth up and down for MONTHS!! We saw fetal medicine TWICE A WEEK untill Ashley was finally hospitalized in july to keep them close....but on AUGUST 10TH Iris was born first at 3lbs 4oz and Ivy second only at 1LB 8OZ. Ivy has been in the nicu for almost 3 months now since she was born very small and lots of issues she had to overcome but she's strong and has so far.Her identical twin sister Iris got released from the nicu after about 2 months. We are staying at the ronald mcdonald house but haven't been able to work due to their rules of having parents staying there and not being able to go to work due to covid. We've been behind on all our bills and rent since my fiance fetal surgery she had to undergo on June 2 2021 to save both of their lives. Our vehicle needs repairs things that we can't afford from me and my wife not being able to work. If we chose to go to work we would lose our room at the ronald mcdonald house. Making it nearly impossible for us to visit our little nicu baby Ivy since shes in Tampa and we live all the way in spring hill.. Ivy had an inguinal hernia and had to have surgery on nov 5 2021 our poor baby. Everything went well though, thank god. Ivy is still on oxygen and can only make it 5min without it. We hate asking for help but really need it. Besides the twins we have 4 other children at home staying with family members.
Anything would really help even prayers. Thank you.
