Darrin as he recovers from his cancer surgery

Hi, my name is Phary, & I'm starting this fundraiser for my nephew Darrin. We are raising money for Darrin, his wife Lex, & their newborn babyboy DJ. Darrin is currently fighting an extremely aggressive brain tumor and is unable to work. Asking for help is NOT a trait that Darrin or Lex has, so we are doing it for them because they desperately need it.

Currently, Darrin is recovering from the craniotomy he had three weeks ago to remove a mass found in May. This is his second surgery after his initial surgery in mid-May when his cancer was discovered in the emergency room. According to Lex, "he's not even focused on resting as he's just stressing and wanting to go back to work." However, due to his condition. he is going to be out of work for at least three months & his little family is in desperate need as they live far away in another state. Lex is unable to work as she is the primary caregiver for both DJ & Darrin right now. Due to these circumstances, the next three months are financially terrifying and uncertain for this beautiful young family now facing extreme events out of their control.

Read below for a timeline of Darrin's diagnosis and more details as to what he is fighting.

Darrin has been diagnosed with the following:

1. Binocular Vision Disorder w/Diplopia (extreme double vision - this is due to the tumor and prevents him from working

2. Hydrocephalus ( this is an extreme build-up of fluids in the deep parts of the brain)

3. Intracranial germinoma ( this is a type of germ cell tumor that is found in the pineal region where Darrin's mass was located)

4. Pineal gland tumor with mass-effect ( this is a diagnosis to say that his tumor is growing and continuing to swell with fluids even after the initial draining)

His current treatment plan is to start physical therapy & he has to continue chemotherapy & possibly radiation.
