Darlington Community Emergency Fund
Donation protected
On August 5th, a tragic and horrifying event unfolded in Darlington. Our community, known for its diversity and unity, was threatened by right wing activists.
The Darlington Jamia Mosque on North Lodge Terrace, as well as the homes of ethnic minority as well as other locals, were left in fear by violent, racist and Islamophobic thugs.
Who are we?
We are members of the Darlington community, united in our mission to support those who have been affected by these events. We refuse to let hate divide us, and we stand together in solidarity with not only our Muslim brothers and sisters, but those who were targeted because of their race, religion, or ethnic background.
Why do we need your help?
The aftermath of the riots has left many in our wider community in need of urgent support. Families have suffered severe severe stress and trauma. The Mosque, a vital centre for spiritual and social gatherings, was threatened and has left the community in fear to worship in peace. The trauma of these events has been deeply felt, and we want to ensure that those affected receive the help they need to restore their sense of security.
How will your donations will be used?
• Immediate Support: Funds will be directed to those who suffered the most during the riots, helping to repair homes, replace damaged property, and provide any necessary support services.
• Community Preparedness: We aim to create a fund to respond quickly in the event of future incidents, ensuring that our community is never caught off-guard again.
• Multicultural Center: Our long-term goal is to establish a multicultural centre in Darlington. This centre will serve as a hub for education, health services, and social support, fostering unity and understanding among all members of our community, regardless of their background.
Join us in promoting unity and not hate
Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference in the lives of those affected by this senseless violence. By standing together, we can ensure that Darlington remains a place where diversity is celebrated, not attacked, and where every resident feels safe and valued.
Let’s show the world that love and unity will always triumph over hate. Thank you for your support.
