Dar Al Rahma — A Quiet Place for Dignity, Shelter and Prayer

Donation protected
A discreet house near the Belgian coast where LGBT Muslims facing rejection, silence, or deep inner conflict between faith and identity may find temporary shelter, inclusive prayer, calm, and human dignity. The purpose is not only temporary shelter, but also helping vulnerable people regain stability, orientation, and emotional breathing space after family rejection, social isolation, loneliness, or inner conflict between faith and sexual identity. A modest inclusive prayer space would offer a quiet place where people who often feel unwelcome, judged, or emotionally diminished in ordinary religious environments may still pray, reflect, and reconnect with spirituality in peace and dignity. The spirit of the initiative also remains respectfully open under a humane and interfaith atmosphere, where sincere dialogue, compassion, and human dignity are never separated from spiritual life. Support may also extend, where realistically possible, to people arriving from countries where living openly as LGBT remains socially or religiously unsafe, offering first orientation, calm, listening, and temporary human support. Part of the future house is intended to function through modest hospitality activity, allowing the initiative to gradually develop toward greater long-term self-sustainability through its own rooms and daily hosting activity. Dar Al Rahma is conceived as a Belgian non-profit initiative combining temporary shelter, inclusive prayer space, human support, and sustainable hospitality in a calm and discreet atmosphere. At this first stage, the immediate priority is not rapid expansion, but the creation of a first stable reserve allowing the project to begin gradually, responsibly, and realistically. Initial support would help cover first rental costs, a flexible rental guarantee arrangement, modest preparation and installation work, and the first essential practical needs necessary to create a safe and dignified starting foundation. The project is intended to grow step by step, through a combination of community support, personal commitment, modest hospitality activity, and careful long-term development. My name is Bram Deryck, from Belgium. My background includes years of liberal theological reflection, first within a Christian context and later within Islam after my conversion. Together with my mother, I would carry the daily practical, human, and welcoming functioning of the place. Practical help from people with useful hands for small preparation, furnishing, painting, transport, or installation work would also be deeply appreciated once the first concrete step becomes possible. Further explanation can also be provided in Dutch, French, English, and German for those who sincerely wish to understand the project more fully or ask practical questions. Respectful contact remains possible when needed.
