Danville FD Ladder Truck

(Thank you all for your donations) The Friendship Fire Company is located in Montour County Danville, Pennsylvania; established in 1841 as the first fire company. We are a 100% volunteer company in a department community of four individual fire companies. We reside within the small town of Danville which consists of 5,000 residents. Our current ladder truck is a 2001 Pierce with an 85-foot tower, and over the past year it has responded to a total average of 167 fire, motor vehicle, and mutual aid calls throughout a 25-mile radius. Our truck has served our community well; however, it is in dire need of replacement due to current mandatory safety regulation changes, and expensive unforeseen repairs. Over the past year alone, our ladder truck has been out of service more than we have anticipated, with downtimes of up to three weeks putting many lives at unnecessary risk. In order to continue to protect our small community made up of four nursing homes, three elementary schools, two secondary schools, one high school, small local businesses and Geisinger Medical Center, an investment into a new ladder truck has become an absolute must. We have worked very hard over the past years to support our company through various fundraisers, private donations and other means. It is because of these contributions that we’re able to generate some additional income to pay for these costly repairs in order to continue to keep our community safe; but like spinning wheels in the sand, the hole only grows deeper. Our hopes are to raise enough funds to purchase a 100-foot Mid-Mount Pierce Ascendant. The total cost is expected to reach 1.3 million dollars! Unfortunately, public safety within the fire department is not cheap to maintain. This does not include our gear, tools or any other equipment, training or any professional certifications that are required of us to continue as volunteers to save lives. We are continuing our fundraising drives through various activities we host at our company and in our community. Fundraising is difficult at any time but has become more difficult to achieve because of the current COVID-19 regulations. We have also applied for current local funding and are hoping we can acquire some other municipal, state and federal funding if we are able to qualify. We continuously seek support from our own small community, but we are also turning to you through this social media platform to share our vision.
