Danny Amidlak, kindhearted, resilient, and resourceful Northwaters & Langskib staff member, recently lost his 6-year-old niece. We're asking the community for support to help Danny travel home for her funeral in Inukjuak, Nunavik, northern Quebec.

Danny's niece passed away on New Year's Eve after being seriously injured by police gunfire during a shootout. Danny told me (Rashad B) she was an energetic young person, who always smiled and rushed up to greet him every time they saw each other. She passed away two months before her 7th birthday.

Danny's loss comes just a week after losing his grandmother, also in Inukjuak. She helped raise him as a teenager and he cared for her in her older years. He wasn't able to travel home for her funeral in December and is still grieving her loss.

We are collecting financial support for Danny to afford accommodation and personal expenses while he travels for the funeral. He's told me how grateful he is for the NWL community and others being here for him during this tragic time, and deeply appreciates whatever you are able to give.
