I am working with Pernet Family Health Service in Worcester because I believe their childcare and education services help even the playing field for disadvantaged youth. By instilling an education-forward mindset in the children they work with—through their Homework Club, afterschool tutoring, gardening, and by providing a safe afterschool environment—Pernet helps low-income children to succeed in ways that school alone cannot.

For my Eagle Scout project, I am constructing a rainwater collection system for Pernet. This system will provide zero-cost, carbon-zero water for their nonprofit’s garden beds, which are used by the youth in their afterschool program. The children will gain hands-on experience with environmentally-conscious practices from an early age, learning the value of sustainability while enjoying the benefits of a thriving garden.

The funds raised will go directly toward building supplies for the rainwater collection system. By reducing their water bill, Pernet can invest more in additional staff to support the children they serve. Your support will help make this project a reality, giving these kids new opportunities to learn and grow. Thank you for considering a donation to help me complete my Eagle Scout service project!
