Help My son Danny Aronson’s spinal injury recovery
Donation protected
Hi my name is Caroline. My son Danny suffered a tragic freak accident in February 2024 As a consequence he will have life changing injuries and is paralysed from the neck down. He is currently still in hospital over 12 months later.
***for returning donations or visitors please read update at the bottom
I’m raising money to help with his medical, emotional and financial needs during this difficult time and will continue to do so for whatever needs may come around with his disability going forward.
The accident happened on February 3rd this year when he lost his balance and fell from a bridge on the Chester rows. He fell over 12ft and suffered a neck fracture and spinal cord injury.
We’ve been told he will be paralysed in his arms and legs therefore be quadriplegic. He was taken to Walton spinal injury hospital in Liverpool who worked around the clock to care for him, it was a scary time with him requiring a ventilator for 6 months.
He was only 28 years old at the time of his accident. He’s always been a very active person and played Basketball for the Cheshire Jets when he was younger. Danny loves cooking, fashion, music and has run his own clothing company for many years.
We hope he can get back to a fulfilling life enjoying these passions again someday but it will be a long journey, which is where any kind of support can help.
A brief summary of the ideas we have for donations include:
- Professional mental health support and counselling to help Danny fully come to terms with the nature of his disability and the journey ahead
- 24 hour care and accommodation is being provided by the NHS but these services are very underfunded and we would love to offer Danny some choices in his life going forward with this.
- Equipment - so far we do not know what he will be provided with apart from a basic wheelchair but we would love to offer him some equipment that will help him live more independently and comfortably.
- Specialist treatment, medication and technology - we have tried to research what treatment is out there for spinal cord injuries, there isn’t currently any cure or nerve regeneration treatment but there are a host of innovative technologies and research that we may one day be able to access with enough funds.
Danny’s recovery progress will be updated and I would like to thank anyone in advance for their generosity.
**** UPDATE****
it is now 13 months since the injury and Daniel is still in hospital. He has come a long way and can now breathe for himself and can be put into a wheelchair. His rehabilitation begins but it’s been a slow progress. We are finding the confines of the NHS very difficult to navigate and are working hard to make the most of what we are offered but this is very limited and is affecting Daniel’s quality of life.
We are trying to get as close to the total as we can for some private rehabilitation in the form of physiotherapy and if we can raise enough a private residence at a centre specialised for spinal injuries. These sessions/ centres are very expensive private fees so all we can do is ask for your generosity and spreading the word, whilst we wait on the list for a facility on the NHS.
