Baby Daniel has not been able to go home and spend time with the rest of the family because since he was born he has been diagnosed with several other health conditions that are common with T21. He has been diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism and is now on a lifelong thyroid medication. Within a few days of taking the medication he started to develop a stridor (squeaky and wheezy breathing) and has been diagnosed with laryngomalacia which means he has a floppy airway causing the stridor. If that's not enough on their plate they also learned that he has a 2nd heart defect called a vascular ring. In order for them to determine the best plan of treatment which also means considering a feeding tube they will be transferred to UCSF in San Francisco and Baby Daniel will now have to go through 2 if not 3 surgeries within his first year of life instead of the 1 surgery they knew he would have to have prior to him being born. You can follow Baby Daniel's T21 and CHD journey on Instagram IG: downwithourdaniel or on Carrie's Facebook page.
As you can imagine this can be a huge financial impact to the family. They will be trying to get into the Ronald McDonald house but there is no guarantee, so until then they will have to pay out of pocket food, hotel, gas, and covid test while they stay in San Francisco and not to mention any other out of pocket medical expenses. Let's help this amazing family out as best we can. Any dollar amount will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your consideration.
