Daniel I. Alfin Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Donation protected
National Police Week honors the sacrifices made by members of law enforcement and their families in service to our country and their communities. In 2023, 135 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty. Their sacrifice and that of their families will be recognized May 12-18, 2024 during a variety of events across the United States, including vigils, road races, and cycling events.
For National Police Week 2024, my friend Julie and I will honor the memory of a friend, FBI Special Agent Dan Alfin who was killed alongside Special Agent Laura Schartzenberger in 2021 while executing a search warrant in Sunrise, Florida. Dan and Laura dedicated their professional lives to protecting children from sexual predators. They are true heroes.
Those who knew Dan, think of him often. I think of Dan when I run. And so last year Julie and I ran a 4x4x48 (run four miles every four hours for 48 hours) to remember Dan.
The runs were hard, but we raised almost $3,500 for the Daniel I. Alfin Endowed Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established by Dan's family to benefit a deserving criminology student at Dan's alma mater, Florida State University.
This year me and Julie will run again to remember Dan and support the scholarship in his name. This year's run will be a 1x1x24 (run one mile every hour for 24 hours).
Please consider donating a dollar a mile or any amount you choose. Make the donation anonymous if you want. I don't care. I'm not keeping score. Any contribution will help honor Dan's memory.
Thank you
